Serving Those Who Serve

At Optics 1, we have over 200 employees from a variety of backgrounds and experiences. We are proud that over 10% of our workforce are veterans from all branches of the US military. We recognize the many skills veterans have that are valuable and transferrable to civilian employment, so we proudly provide opportunities for veterans transitioning out of the armed forces. From our skilled logisticians and support teams to our highly trained, patent-winning engineers, we have the personnel we need to tackle our customer's product development needs. Our customers include the US Department of Defense, federal and local law enforcement agencies, industry partners, and US allies from around the world. .

Giving Back to Our Veterans

At Optics 1, we also spend time giving back to our troops, veterans, and their families. Below are some features of events we have hosted and participated in, all in support of those who risk their lives to serve us!

  • Wreaths Across America

For the past two years, Optics 1 has sponsored and participated in Wreaths Across America. Founded in 2007, Wreaths Across America carries out their mission each December to Remember, Honor, and Teach by coordinating wreath-laying ceremonies at Arlington National Cemetery, as well as at more than 2,500 additional locations in all 50 US states, at sea, and abroad.

  • Veterans Day Lunches

Every year, Optics 1 hosts a Veterans Day Lunch to show our appreciation and thanks for our Veterans.

  • Sterling Promise Foundation

In 2022, we held a fundraiser during SOFIC where all proceeds went to the Sterling Promise Foundation. We raised $43,500 to support their mission; to ensure that veterans are able to live long, healthy, fulfilling lives following their careers in the US Army Special Operations, through early cancer screenings and awareness campaigns. The Sterling Promise Foundation exists to honor the life of Staff Sergeant Scott Sterling, who passed away in April 2021 after a heroic battle with colorectal cancer. Scott served in the 75th Ranger Regimental Reconnaissance Detachment and 1st Special Forces Operational Detachment–Delta.

  • Travis Mills Foundation

The Travis Mills Foundation formed to benefit and assist post 9/11 veterans who have been injured in active duty or as a result of their service to our nation. The veterans and their families receive an all-inclusive, all-expenses paid, barrier-free vacation to Maine where they participate in adaptive activities, bond with other veteran families, and enjoy much-needed rest and relaxation in Maine’s great outdoors. In 2021, Optics 1 was honored to present Travis Mills with a donation as well as tour the 20-acre retreat in Maine. In 2022, each Optics 1 employee received a copy of SSG Travis Mills' book, "Tough as They Come".
